I like the Golden Gate Bridge. But, I love the Bay Bridge. It is ever-changing. It feels like a mongrel — a mixture of styles. It doesn’t have the sweeping grace of its tonier cousin. It has been battered and bruised. And yet it goes on. And on a clear day, I can see all of it, connecting San Francisco to Oakland, home of a better baseball team than the one in my backyard.
