A recent report by Probe Group, Broadband Connectivity in Canada, Mexico and the U.S., finds that although cable modem connectivity dominates DSL by a 2 to 1 margin, DSL connectivity will gradually close the gap with the number of cable modems doubling by 2009 but the number of DSL connections tripling, according to Probe Group Research Director Alan Mosher. Connectivity by analog modem is in decline in the region although Probe anticipates continued analog modem growth in Mexico through 2009. “Telemex is finally beginning to get serious about rolling out DSL,” Mosher said, “but DSL will not pose a challenge to analog modem connectivity in Mexico through 2009.”
