As the air was leaking out of the dot-com bubble, I remember reading about the news around human genome sequencing and its future impact. Today direct-to-consumer companies offer us our DNA details. Chinese and Russians think this is the data to hack and hoard. A lot of that was on my mind when listening to “Looking back at 20 years of human genome sequencing,” an excellent podcast episode from Science Mag. I would also recommend reading “Complicated Legacies: Human Genome at 20.”
