My Spring Break was longer than I had expected. I didn’t realize how much of a break I needed from the constant stream of information that made up my day. And that is after I had already eliminated Facebook and Instagram from my life. Since then, I have slashed my daily Twitter usage drastically — I mean, who has the extra cycles to deal with re-hashed ideas as Twitter threads, pointless arguments, and media people complaining about Twitter — on Twitter.
And once I went offline, it became easy to stay offline. What did I do when I was offline? I read a bit and walked a lot but mostly indulged in the fine art of nothingness. And I traveled to distant lands. While I was away, a few generous helping hands helped clear up the clutter around the old blog by making it more streamlined. It is simpler and reflects its blog roots. Since they are updated less often, my essays, interviews, and photography get their sections on the website. I will be blogging more often. The next edition of the newsletter will return on May 15, 2023. 2024.
PS: I heard tweets &/or blog posts are called Notes in Substack lingo. As I have always maintained, marketing & buzzwords are the most significant Silicon Valley innovation in the 21st century. Here are a select few I sent when I was more or less offline.
