My Thoughts About Apple’s iPhone 16 “Glowtime” Event

Did you know that at one point more than 2 million people were watching Apple’s fall 2024 launch event stream on YouTube? If nothing else, it shows a deep interest in the company and its products. These events — carefully crafted exercises in public relations — seem to have the same place in the modern zeitgeist as fashion collections being unveiled every season. Predictably, we are either disappointed or excited about what is on show. It’s not surprising that the reaction from those who follow Apple and its products is divided.

It’s hard to internalize, but we are at the end of the “phone hardware” cycle. From 1996 to 2007, we had a world dominated by 12-keypad phones that did a few other things. From 2007 to 2024, we have had a rectangular slab that does many things, including making calls. The first cycle lasted 11 years. This one has

So that’s the difference between AirPods and AirPods Pro!

I was reading this blog post over on the Klipsch blog and came across a bit that totally explains the difference between AirPods and AirPod Pros. One seems to be an earbud while the other qualifies as an earphone.

Earphones go past your concha and extend into your ear canal, thanks to silicone tips attached to the earphones themselves. This design creates optimal noise isolation, allowing you to enjoy your music more clearly and at a lower volume. It also makes your earphones less likely to fall out of your ears compared to earbuds. Plus, most earphone packages offer different

Are Pro AirPods worth the cost?

Apple announced the often rumored and much expected AirPods Pro, and it didn’t take very long for Twitter and the media outrage machine to question why these earphones should cost more than their predecessors.

Some pontificated that perhaps it is because it has “pro” attached to the name. Never mind that the $249 price point is pretty comparable to other premium wireless – or, as they say in the industry, “true wireless” – headphones. Momentum headphones from Sennheiser cost about $259. Master & Dynamic’s MW07 Plus cost almost $300. Bang & Olufsen’s Beoplay E8 cost almost $350.

Given that most of these earphones are using chips from a commercial chip vendor – Qualcomm, in all likelihood – you can count on AirPods Pro having a distinct and better sound quality. Apple is using its own chip, H1, which gives it a leg-up in bringing a more customized experience to its
