Last evening in a chat with my sister who lives in really cold Michigan, I found out that Pillsbury dough boy has recently started baking Indian breads like Parathas. I have not been able to find the details on this, but it is a pretty significant development. In other words this is beginning of the mainstreaming of Indian cuisine in North America.

I know our cousins in Britain have long had pre-packaged Indian foods as part of the standard fare in grocery stores, but this could be a start here in the US. I just wonder when there will be a chain of restaurants called, “Panjabi Tandoori Chicken” and Macy’s will do a Harrod’s. Oh I am hungry!
