Raghav, a new R&B star in the making?

Come January 12th, and Raghav, a largely unknown name stateside is going to make his international musical debut with the release of his single, So Confused. The UK based singer is one of the new wave of British Asians taking a shot at R&B glory.

According to some websites, the track by Raghav, 22, who originally hails from Canada, is getting optimum radio airplay and continuously shown on cable channels MTV Base, The Box, and Kiss.

bq. He began his musical training at the tender age of five. At this age he was studying classical Indian music with Guru Nishi Kant Bali. Within a year, he was performing in shows in Canada. A number of music schools across the States offered Raghav a scholarship. One offer he could not turn down was the opportunity to work with world-renowned coach Seth Riggs in LA. Not many will be familiar with his name, but the fact that his other students include Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Madonna should indicate his status in the industry. Raghav’s incredible talent is furthered by the fact that he is in fact tri-lingual; he can sing in Hindi, French and English. In 1998, he won an award for top original song
as voted for by the National Songwriters Association of America, and thus establishing himself as a prolific songwriter. Raghav then moved to England to study at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Raghav’s unique voice and exceptional song writing skills has led to a great deal of attention from top producers worldwide. He has already worked with top garage act Sunship (previously worked on remixes for Craig David) and Mushtaq (the man behind the popular remix of Hill Street Soul’s ‘All that’). He will also be collaborating with top reggae duo Sly & Robbie, who have worked with top names including Bob Marley, Simply Red and The Rolling Stones. (Desitunes4U)
