Well, I’ve been waiting for this album, his 5th solo, for a long time and when I finally got my hands on it, I wasn’t disappointed. It has taken Gaudi almost 3 1/2 years to release his next album after his 2000 release of Earthbound. It’s not surprising though because his creativity and originality has made him a much sought after producer all over the world. On this album he has worked with and recorded a total of 42 musicians from across the world, making this album an original and quality production

You must have heard his first single release “sufani” in Pathaan’s stoned Asia series. He is also the other half in Orchestral World groove which he formed with Dj Pathaan. He has been stretching the boundaries of music since the start of his career in the early eighties.

The album is a real “world” album and has influences from pygmies, qawalli, flamenco, Amazonian rainforest chants, African french rap, tribal chanting from Papua New guinea and of course his native Italian. And all of this with some great bass lines and an amazing combination of instruments from all over the world. There is the track ‘theremystical’ which allows Gaudi to show his talent on the “theremin”, an instrument which needs no physical contact to make its sound. And then there is ‘chant thermique’ which showcases the unique Fire Organ, allowed for the first time ever to be used for a musical recording.

Overall definitely one of the best albums to have been released last year and if you haven’t heard it yet, make sure you get a hand on it asap…bound to be a favorite. Infact 2 of his songs are going to be featured in the new Pooja Bhatt movie “Rog”.
