Asians in Media editor Sunny Hundal goes to attend BBC Asian Network’s talent contest, enjoys the lively performances by folks like Gurdas Maan, Swami Sukhshinder Shinda and Abrar Ul-Haq. but asks the big question, where is the new talent?

Although Asian Network’s talent contest (called Unsung) and the showcase event last night (called Live) are worthwhile projects, they failed to hit the mark as well as they could have. Reflecting popular opinion, a BBC DJ even admitted the three finalists were ‘uninspiring’. Another producer added that they needed to write original material to really stand out, specially as one, later named the winner, performed a Robbie Williams cover.
