So the big news today is that TypePad is launching widgets. Good – finally it will address some of the complaints of the users, and frankly, high time. I agree the services need to be plugged in. Well, the good news is that the widgets are coming to WordPress as well, which also released their own little tiny-tot play. These have been available to hosted WordPress.com users for a bit now.
A reader writes with this astute observation: Widgets is the marketing term of the moment that has the most mind share so it’s obvious why they chose it. No brainer for calling them widgets but they ain’t the same as Dashboard widgets or even Yahoo! widgets or those pesky Windows gadgets.
