Yesterday, a lot of people spent a lot of time discussing the New York Times website redesign. Erick didn’t care much for it, and I can understand why. They are trying to mess with a classic look and feel. My impression – when I saw the design, and its overt play for hipness, it reminded me of Madonna trying to compete for attention with Lindsay Lohans’ of the world. Or like some thoroughly ivy-league guy trying to be urban. The blog-inspired hipness is kinda pointless if you don’t follow the ethos of the open web. Or as Jason says, show me the damn outgoing links to blogs. Like always, Times…. all the news fit to reprint.
