Things have become increasingly hectic, as we try to get a cleaner and more streamlined look in place for GigaOM. We have a ton of cool new features planned, and some of them are going to show up in this release of the site. Still, it is a lot of work, and I am finding myself constantly shifting gears – switching between writing to managing and then writing again.
Yesterday, for instance was particularly hectic. I met with the TrueVPs in the afternoon, a few meetings in between and then dinner with Josh Kopelman. he made some suggestions for the site, which are pretty insightful and will help with the overall flow of the site, and also help me better manage time. It was the first time I met Josh, who promised an interesting future post on his blog. It goes like – Web 2.0 as an investment theme is so over. Cannot wait to read it! And as we were leaving, he suggested that it was time for me to write a book. Sigh… what a lovely suggestion, but where is the time?
Now I understand when my entrepreneur friends say that start-up life is a marathon-length sprint. It is fun and addictive, and well busy. I think yesterday I went hogwild on blogging and am taking it a little slow, and working on finishing up some non-editorial work. Amazingly, I have Katie to back me up on days like today, and she is simply tireless. Where does she find these stories? Similarly, Niall is been helpful in keeping the podcast going. He did all the work on our latest Podcast about OSCON and the future of open source.
Hopefully I will find a little bit more time/flexiblity once the latest release is done. Of course, by then it will be time for new fires. I also hope to finish two of my long delayed thought pieces, including one on Cisco. That would be timely because their earnings are coming up. Okay back to running….
