Over the weekend I found myself brooding, perhaps wondering why this sudden case of me-grims! Maybe because my best mate got up, and got married and forgot to give me a little heads up, leaving me alone carrying the baton for rapidly aging bachelor set. Or perhaps it was spring cleaning chores got under my skin.
In reality the reasons were entirely different. Lost amongst all twittering about twitter was the overlooked fact that – exactly seven years ago – on March 10, 2007 the Nasdaq hit 5,049 and since then trended down. Such short term memories we have – that we forget the past so quickly. More optimistic amongst us might call it – resilience.
John Cook reminds us that it is trading at around half that. As he succinctly writes, “The era of Pets.com may be gone, though many have speculated that a new bubble is forming around Web 2.0.” I have never meet John Cook, but I would like to for he seems like a kindred soul. Time to get rid of this lingering case of blues, we will shortly publish two pieces – one by Anne Zelenka and one by yours truly that will be posted later today.
