One of the great things about living in San Francisco is that you get to experience a slight shift in seasons. While most of the world is edging towards cold and shivering nights, we are having beautiful Indian summer. However, the nights can be somewhat cool and require an additional layer. Especially when I go for my usual late night walk before going to sleep. It helps me unclutter my mind, and process the day, in addition to keeping my sugar level at normal.

While T-shirts are fine at home, when walking along side Embarcadero, the cool breeze from the Bay makes it necessary to take additional protection. The classic outerwear – woolen jackets are too heavy. I hate wearing the nylon coats — they are good for rainy days. And perhaps that is why I was excited to find the perfect fall outer jacket.

Well it is not really a jacket — what it is a cross between a jacket and a shirt and it is made by Bill’s Khakis, on of the legendary American brands that is well known for making khaki pants. They used to make these for the US Army and the quality of those pants is still impeccable. They make other stuff too. And this season they have come-up with they are calling The Scully.

It is cotton and wool blend and is a thick shirt that is perfect to walk around in on cool evenings. If you live in San Francisco and are a tad more conventional in our clothing choices, I would highly recommend this shirt/jacket. It will set you back around $200 and you can buy it from my friend and ex-techie Ami Arad’s men clothing store, On The Fly

It is not fashion forward, sure, but it is so comfortable and it has become my favorite jacket. It is a well constructed piece and from the looks of it, it is going to be part of my wardrobe for a long time. Perhaps when I go watch some of the playoff games at the Giants Stadium, I will take the Scully along!
