Earlier this week, a good friend of mine pinged me about StumbleUpon and how its traffic was growing. I checked, and low and behold, it was one of the top ten referrers to GigaOM.com, just as it was in the old days before it was acquired by eBay. It is an independent company, once again.

A day later, over coffee (at the awesome SightGlass) my friend Krutal talked about the need for services to be fun if they want a lot of people to use them. From there, Tim Young, founder of Socialcast jumped in with his thoughts. Later I talked to Kissmetrics co-founder Hiten Shah, who is another good friend of mine and a few other folks in Silicon Valley. From those conversations emerged my essay, What Makes a Hit (Consumer) Internet Company.

I just wanted to share with you the iterative process that is writing a post. It is many conversational threads, that when weaved together make a good read. All I do is connect the dots!
