James Altucher is a great public speaker. And today on his blog he shares his tips on how to be a better public speaker. Ironically, I am using many of them though for me #3 comes with my accent. The mistake I often make — #7. I will pay more attention to that next time. My one tip — use Keynote if you are a Mac owner. It adds a certain je ne sais quoi. Anyway if you can find sometime — add James’ piece to your must read list.

  1. Start off with a joke.
  2. Get on their level.
  3. Very important:  slightly slur words.
  4. Try to use JUST one word plus one image per page.
  5. Try to shock people on each slide.
  6. Self-deprecating.
  7. A talk should be a three act structure, like a play or a movie.
  8. The Pretty Girl Rule.
  9. Never ever self-promote.
  10. Simple facts nobody knows.
  11. Tell Stories.
