Today, when reading this post on Unclutterer I was reminded of this need versus want argument. John McAfee, the founder of McAfee software had this to say:
“I think most people don’t sit down and ask, ‘What do I need?” not “What do I want?” Because we all want everything,” he explained. “But what do we need? We don’t need very much. We really don’t … The things we want and the things we need are two different things.”
I have been trying to control my own behavior, shifting from want to need. It is not easy. It takes a lot of effort. But in the end, it is worth it.
