Clearly, most people have not been watching the evolution of virtual agents/characters and chatbots for the past few years.
SIRI is about “average,” in comparison to the other work in this field. Nearly every site agent (professionally produced) includes “knowledge” that allows them to flirt or divert flirtation. Nearly all can send spiders into Wikipedia to pull headlines and a paragraph.
SIRI is only “really cool” because it’s now embraced by Apple folks.
Nothing more.
The real downside of SIRI is that it’s a single “voice,” and cannot become a brand agent in any meaningful way. That is where brand-based (single API) virtual agents will excel.
