Diwali or the Festival of Lights is a day that celebrates the victory of good over evil and the triumphant return of Lord Rama from an exile. In contemporary India we celebrate it with lighting up our homes with candles or earthen lamps and electric lights. We share gifts and eat a lot of sweets and we pray for a lot of things. I am just glad to be around to celebrate – in a modest sort of a way – this special day. Time to call mom & oh, Happy Diwali to one and all.
