Finally! Finally! if someone could my face right now, it would look like a kid who just got a cake all to himself. I have been waiting, patiently to share this news with my readers: we have have launched GigaOM Europe, our first (and for now the only) international foray.
It is spearheaded by Bobbie Johnson, a friend of mine from the days when he worked for The Guardian. He is joined by Robert Andrews, who is our international man of mystery and joined the team via PaidContent. And last but not the least, David Meyer (C/Net-ZDNet UK) who is now based in my favorite European city – Berlin.
In December 2011, I attended Le Web in Paris (thanks Loic for the invite) along with Bobbie and we were struck by how many people in Europe who wanted us to launch GigaOM. I took a long trip across some of the tech-hubs in Europe. I went to Berlin and fell in love with the city and its energy. I went to Helsinki and was blown away by the engineering talent that was leaving Nokia and finding home in interesting startups.
It was time. And here it is… GigaOM Europe.
Here is Bobbie’s post announcing the site.
Reblogged this on PlanMill: Accelerating Your Success! and commented:
GigaOM Europe is launched and here’s what they say about Finland’s talented workforce and startups: “…I went to Helsinki and was blown away by the engineering talent that was leaving Nokia and finding home in interesting startups.”
Congratulations! How can I apply with my start-up projects – http://www.miraline.com?
Bravo! Congratulations and keep leading the way.
And, erm, when can we expect GigaOm Asia?
