Steve Crandell, an original thinker if there is any, sent me an email…
my metric for the quality of an investigation is not understanding something, but rather moving on to more fundamental questions if there are any
What a profound thought and it is how I define my life. When I start my day learning and asking questions and end the same day with more questions, I know I have lived. Other days I am being a burden on the society.
I think of “understanding” in terms of broadening my contextual grasp of it — do I have a better grip as to how this idea/thingie/concept fits into the rest of the universe in a variety of ways, angles perspectives? If yes, than I have a better understanding of it.
@barry
