I have two broken nails, a bruised knee, two stubbed toes and a soaking wet pair of shoes. And I have not slept for more than three hours a day. And the reason for all this? I am in a new apartment. My brain is going to a resetting and overhaul much like a server that is rebooted. I don’t know which buttons do what — the switch to turn on the light turns off the lights in the entire bedroom area.
Nevertheless, all this rewiring made me realize that we are really creatures of habit and want to program our brains around the basic tasks. Twice in past 24 hours I have gotten off on the wrong floor and tried to open the door of the wrong apartment — only to stop short and preventing what could have been an embarrassing situation.
The muscle memory of brain is actually quite strong, but as I try and retrain my mind to the new surroundings, I have found one positive effect: I am feeling a lot more creative and thinking much more clearly about issues that had me befuddled. Life is moving forward & sometimes it means leaving things behind.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Go for a long walk, eat something healthy, read or watch something that makes you laugh – and add a nap.
