I am a fan of Ghurka brand of bags and leather accessories. I own one of their vintage twill briefcases and it is one of the most well built products in my home. Yes, it is heavy even when empty, but that is because the leather is heavy-duty. The buckles are made of brass. I am pretty sure it is going to outlive me and then some. And perhaps that is why I was excited to see Die Workwear, one of my favorite menswear blogs wax eloquent about vintage Ghurka bags. Like wine, Ghurka bags get better with age. I hope Ghurka starts to bring back some of these vintage styles.

Thrilling! I have a pre-2004 (since when is something that new, “vintage”?) black leather Ghurka briefcase with brass fittings — I’ll list it on eBay right away before this craze fades out!
Simplicity, quality of construction, you can’t do better than that.
