Automattic, which offers an array of publishing tools (including WordPress, Jetpack and Akismet) as a service has added commerce to its arsenal through an acquisition of Woo Commerce, which is built on and for open source WordPress based websites. The South African bootstrapped company is one of the big success stories of online commerce. More details are offered by my dear friend and Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg in his blog post.
