It is hard not to be overcome by a sense of despair and doom about the world in general, and technology in specific. It doesn’t help that media is dominated by doomsday narratives. We all need something positive to hold on to. Well, there is a new magazine called Reasons to Be Cheerful. It is backed by none other than David Byrne and his Arbutus Foundation.

The editorial approach takes a look at changes in our world, many driven by the increased role of technology, and looks from a lens that is more pragmatic and less dystopian. I spent reading many of the articles and I find them worth my time. I sincerely hope they can maintain the quality of their articles. My first few recommendations from their website as of now:

  • Can Flexible Pricing Be Fair
  • The Necessity of Nuclear by Brian Eno
  • Less Parking, More City
