Am I the only one who finds the desktop image for Apple’s latest macOS update, Catalina, less than stellar. After decades of beautiful visages of California’s majestic landscapes, I find the most recent edition quite a disappointment.

Catalina Island is quite beautiful, especially when seen from the air. Capturing photos of islands off the coast of California has always been the highlight of my journey to the southern part of the Golden State. I made some images with my iPhone 11 Pro and edited them in Photoshop. Have a look.

Not only do they show off the capabilities of the camera quite well, but why Catalina (the Island) is so special. And as for MacOS’s latest edition, let’s call it Apple’s Vista and move on.

By the way, the edits were mode on the latest MacBook Pro 16 inch (currently on loan from Apple.) That extra inch helps with Photoshop, quite a bit. I have sold my old 15-inch and have placed an order for the new 16-inch version – going for more memory, storage, and more powerful GPU.
