You don’t need AI to understand the universe

The pompous posturing of a space cowboy and his desire to understand the universe by starting a data-harvesting AI company, X.ai, I was reminded of this verse from Rumi:

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.” 

To understand ourselves, we have to embrace our insignificance.

Carl Sagan said it best:

“Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark.”
