A Lovely October Evening

There is nothing like October in San Francisco. While the rest of the country is settling into the “fall” weather, San Franciscans experience and enjoy their Indian Summer. And that often means gorgeous, languid sunrises and long, beautiful sunsets. I have already written about the “morning gradients” in a previous post.

Now, I want to share some photographs from a beautiful evening I enjoyed last week. I went down to Crissy Field and walked around with the new iPhone 15 ProMax, snapping photos of the setting sun, boats in the San Francisco Bay, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and of course, the graceful Pelicans, all going home, somewhere.

I really enjoyed my walk and capturing these photos. The 5x zoom camera and the 48-megapixel raw files meant I could take some liberties with the photos. I have mostly desaturated the colors. These photos have been tweaked with my custom preset.

I hope you enjoy them!

  1. absolutely gorgeous! such a gift that you share your photography with us!

  2. Divine. Whilst there’s much to be said (and you’ve said it) about nice cameras, ultimately a photo is much a reflection of the photographer and their ability to frame a view to convey an emotion, often evanescent. And of course beauty (& emotion) is in the eye of the beholder. Love it.

    1. Indeed — photography is and always about the photographer and the photographic eye. Cameras are nice tools, and sometimes, good tools help. But mostly it is light and being in the right place at the right time. Appreciate your comment.

    1. Thank you Ketan. The words are like a little salt/sugar/umami for the photos. ๐Ÿ™‚
