Jim Courtney, RIP
Nothing quite reminds you of the passage of time as the passing of people you have met on your journey. Today I learned from Andy Abramson that Jim Courtney, a long-time blogger who wrote about all things voice telephony and Skype, had recently passed away. Andy knew him much more closely than I did. He was a lively presence in the “VoIP” blogosphere in the early aughts, the heyday of old-school blogging, where we talked to each other via our blogs. I had first met Jim at the first Mesh conference in Toronto back in 2006. We had only met a few times at various “voice” events, but our email and blog exchanges were more frequent. We had fallen out of touch in recent years as my life took me in a different direction. Jim was one of the good guys. RIP!
