Where did SF’s Homeless Go?

TLDR: Nowhere. They are hiding in plain sight.

What the new administration has done is simply hide the problem. They dispersed the homeless into fractions and pushed them into back alleys of SOMA and other neighborhoods.

Problem solved. This is a very tech ecosystem approach to making problems vanish. Why fix it when you can easily hide the problem? Walk around the city and you see the problem exists in small bits but is widely distributed. As a soda ad said, “Perception is reality.”

The new San Francisco Mayor, Daniel Lurie, is good at not talking specifics. Enough people in the SF ecosystem,especially from tech industry, are too tied to his perceived success. That’s why we are not seeing more people asking for specifics. I dare him to give a state of the homelessness report that can be easily verified by citizens, not handpicked media.

What has noticeably improved: you see much less broken car window glass on streets. Kudos to the cops and new administration for trying to tackle the crime issues. Seems like auto shops are suffering a bit.
