Billion handsets a year by 2009, 3 billion mobile users

Gartner says they are increasing their handset sales estimate for 2005 to 779 million units, versus previous estimate of 750 million. Gartner predicts that the handset sales will break the 1 billion per year barrier in 2009, when it says there will be 2.6 billion mobiles in use. Take recent earnings trouble at LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson, and put it against great quarter reported by Motorola, looks like we can easily expect a blockbuster from Nokia. via MobHappy.
