Finally there is confirmation of what I had earlier reported – BitTorrent , according to regulatory filing dated September 12, has raised $8.75 million in a Series A funding round led by DCM-Doll Capital Management. Money, I am sure will be used for offering legit services. more details here via Silicon Beat.
What does this mean for Bittorrent as a protocol? Surely these investors can’t expect to make money on an open-source protocol. That would be like putting money into HTTP or SSH.
What kind of services would they be developing with $8m, I wonder.
