Broadband-Enabled Hotels to More Than Triple by 2009, says Instat. From 14,300 properties in 2004 to nearly 54,000 properties in 2009. Don’t get too impressed by the numbers – in %-terms, broadband will have only penetrated 3.4 percent in 2004, growing to 11.4 percent in 2009. I hope this trend gathers momentum, for availablity of broadband is the primary decision when I pick a hotel these days. What about you?
Same here, I always always check for broadband before booking a hotel. Strangely the more you pay for a room the less likely said broadband will be free. At a Marriott for example you pay, but at a Courtyard by Marriott (cheaper) it’s free. Strange, but more of a reason to stay in the cheaper place I suppose.
This has always been the height of frustration for me – there’s no excuse for a $100+ room not at least having WiFi.
A little town I stayed in recently didn’t have a single hotel (out of 8-9) with broadband. I was offline all weekend!
Number is too low.
