FEER :: Half a World Away :: For India, these remote services offer the lure of big bucks. A recent study by the consulting firm McKinsey & Co. predicts that by 2008, Indian export revenues from such services could soar to between $21 billion and $24 billion, up from about $1.5 billion today. At the same time, the number of such jobs is expected to rise more than ten times to 1.1 million. As if on cue, as India’s software juggernaut slows, many of the country’s biggest software-service companies have recently taken the plunge into remote services.
