Selling music — whether streaming service or straight music downloads — is a great marketing tool for mobile operators. Consumers understand the value of music, so instantaneously downloading a song to a cell phone will be a powerful service and one that operators will want to be associated with. Although just a handful of music services are currently available in Europe and Asia, consumers worldwide are already spending $183 million on music for their cell phones, according to research firm Ovum. It expects that number to nearly double to $350 million next year.”
