The Google Click-to-Call is not cancelled, a Google spokesperson just let us know. (They have added the statement on their blog as well.)
A bug in Blogger enabled an unauthorized user to make a fake post on the Google Blog claiming that we have discontinued our AdWords click-to-call test. The bug was fixed quickly and the post removed. Our click-to-call test is progressing on schedule and we are pleased with the results thus far.
We had reported on a strange development on Google’s official blog which indicated that Google’s click-to-call project was cancelled. Many readers including Aswath had pointed out that it was a hoax. We have updated the previous post to reflect that, and have also closed the comments on the previous post.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the Google blog has had some issues, and one wonders if there might be a bigger issue with the Blogger service.
This is solved now, but please check this discussion about a persistent problem with Blogger that affected one of the main portuguese blogs, some weeks ago, before a major DNS change in *.blogspot.com.

If only Google had added a note recognizing the hoax as they pulled down the story…
No harm done, and we are all squared away. Being the weekend only created the problem. On a work day, this would be not a problem.

Surprising that the poorly worded post wasn’t dismissed immediately.
