From Venture Wire: With its Centrino platform for mobile devices set to launch on Wednesday, Intel Capital has completed two new deals, investing $3 million in Vivato, a San Francisco-based 802.11 switch manufacturer, and an undisclosed amount in rovingIP.net, a Bellevue, Wash.-based provider of clearinghouse and settlement functions for 802.11 service providers. Wall Street Journal reports that Intel is also investing in London-based Broadreach Networks Ltd., which has a network of Internet-access terminals in the United Kingdom and Pronto Networks Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., which offers software to help manage Wi-Fi networks. Intel had said back in October 2002 that it would invest $150 million in companies pursuing Wi-Fi technology. (News.com on Intel’s unwired strategy.)
