Intel’s Centrino Push: the dirty truth

From Broadband Daily:: “A slew of computer makers, including Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Toshiba, IBM and Sony have said they will include IntelÌüs Centrino technology in new notebook computers although reports suggest that these same laptop makers plan to make the Wi-Fi chips optional given that Intel only supports 802.11b technology, and not the latest the Wi-Fi rev, 802.11g. Moreover, IntelÌüs all-in-one Centrino set-up makes some PC makers leery of relying on one supplier, particularly a potent one such as Intel, for too many critical components. “
