The Korea Herald reports that KT Corp., Korea’s biggest fixed-line telephone and broadband Internet company, has signed a contract to build high-speed Internet infrastructure in Iran. The $26 million contract will help AsiaTech, one of the major Iranian Internet service providers, set up 100,000 broadband Internet lines in the country’s 20 major cities, including its capital Teheran, by 2005, KT said at the ITU Telecom Asia conference. They may not have much in terms of freedom of speech, but Iranians are now looking for ways to boost the speeds of their internet networks. Hey who knows with broadband, we could get more people from Iran blogging all the time, and cause … well a revolution.
