Lucent and Nortel, well they just cannot get a break from attorneys and lawsuits. This morning both got sued, for different reasons. A Saudi company has sued Lucent for perpetrating systematic bribery over a period of seven years.
bq. The amended complaint accuses former Lucent Chief Executive Richard McGinn and Lucent’s former chief of protocol, Robert Frye, of approving two checks totaling $2 million to a top cancer center in Seattle that treated Ali Al-Johani, then Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Post Telephone and Telegraph, for leukemia. McGinn was fired by Lucent’s board in October 2000.
Nortel’s financial shenanigans and ouster of two senior executives including the CFO has sparked new lawsuits.
