Jeff Pulver, one of the few pundits to throw his considerable weight behind the internet protocol telephony wants no government regulation in the new emerging technology for voice over the Internet. On February 5th he filed a petition with the FCC on behalf of Free World Dialup, asking for a Declatory Ruling that Internet Telephony in the United States should be unregulated. Pulver.com petitions the Commission for a declaratory ruling that its Free World Dialup, which facilitates point-to-point broadband Internet protocol voice communications, is neither telecommunications nor a telecommunications service as these terms are defined in section 153 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. On February 14th the FCC put his petition out for public comment. A copy of Jeff’s original petition is posted on his website. Click here to read the petition.
