Wall Street Journal says HP to do some restructuring. Analysts expect about 25,000 to be given a pink ticket. Many will send Carly an email: Wish you were here. (Insert, Scott McNealy one-liner here, except, these days Sun is the joke!) Seriously, these painful steps just might save HP. PCs are the TVs of the 21st century – a low margin commodity business. Serious tech giants like HP have to refocus on higher value proposition products. HP should take a cue from IBM, get out of PC business.
I used to work @ HP until last week, my whole group got laid off, and they hired a new contract company. This new contract house pays their employee $13/hour or less and no benefits.
Also they are off-shoring IT support to Canada(Toronto), Kala-Lampur, and India.
