SBC wants to push hard on WiFi

Now that EVDO is here, and Cingular UMTS is nowhere to be found, why doesn’t it surprise me that SBC is making a big push on WiFi. San Antonio Business Journal reports that the largest Baby Bell will roll-out of a WiFi broadband wireless network in its 13-state coverage area. The company has set a goal of having 20,000 locations by 2006. SBC DSL customers pay $1.99 per month. Plain vanilla WiFi access will be $17.99 a month. (Is that sound of a WiFi price war?) Non SBC customers pay $20 a month. T-Mobile, your move?
