San Francisco is a model citizen when it comes to wasting tax-payers dollars. Arguably, one of the richest cities in the country, where pretty much everyone has a broadband connection and I am guessing WiFi, the Mayor now wants to turn the city into a giant free hot spot. “We will not stop until every San Franciscan has access to free wireless Internet service,” Gavin Newsom said Thursday in his annual state of the city address. “These technologies will connect our residents to the skills and the jobs of the new economy. No San Franciscan should be without a computer and a broadband connection.” How about spending the money on trying to lick the homeless problem, or better MUNI service so that there is less abuse of the environment. (Am I the only one to notice that concerned Californians love giant SUVs?) Or even more cops on the street? I can understand that small cities need a D-I-Y broadband, but San Francisco?
