MIT Technology Review writes a big love letter to Intel and its Centrino product, without any background reporting of course. They talk about Intel’s engineers design cool-running processors because they say the demand coming. Or was it after Transmeta had showed and proved that there was a demand for low-power chips. Later in the story, there is mention of Centrino as a master stroke. Really? I mean its nothing more than brilliant marketing than anything else. It is only recently, Intel has started to roll-out Centrinos with its own silicon. It is interesting that the article completely overlooks the snafus the company has made which have resulted in market share loss in the mainline processor business. After reading this story – well if there are enough gullibles to buy Intel’s line on Centrino, it will be problem who think WiMAX will replace our cellphones by Christmas.
