We’ll see much more of this in the months to come. Covad and I think Charter Communications upgraded there cable offerings to upwards of 15Mbps in order to compete with the Verizon FiOS offerings in Virginia. At this moment, the DSL wars are being fought at price, however for the time to come, as broadband prices stabilize, the differentiating factor would be peak speed. I see Verizon positioning themselves very well with their Fiber to the Premise approach which has some slowness in time to market and high cost investment, but companies like SBC and BLS would see saturation in their peak speeds, with the Fiber to the Curb and Fiber to the Node routes, that they are taking

  2. Hi,

Its actually 24 quid for 24MB at the moment… but earlier this month there was a promotion.. only 20 quid! But its still a good deal… 3 month contract only, and a free wifi router/modem. The next best deal is Bulldog, but that’s 29.99 for 8MB, with no free modem.

I signed up for the service, and in 2 weeks time it’s going to be activated. Hopefully, as its new, there will be few users on it for the first few months, and i’ll be able to download stuff at blazing speeds!

Anyways, what they don’t tell you under the signup form… is that if you enter a member’s email address under “referrer”, you get one month free! Sort of their way of rewarding marketing by word of mouth. So if you don’t know any members yet, you can use my email address: boon.koh***@***imperial.ac.uk (remove the ***’s)

  3. Yeah, it says in the terms and conditions: If you refer a new member both the new member and you will receive a month free.
Even better, if you have 24 referrals you will get free Be for LIFE!!!

Anyway, of course I want you all to refer to my email, you have nothing to lose and a free month to gain:

    (replace (AT) with a @)
