  1. 70 percent of Twitter accounts are based outside of the US. Yes kanority of those would be the blasted spammers we get!!

  2. What percentage of accounts are actually automated BOTS?
What percentage of the tweet-flow is actually BOT SPEW?
(5% of users account for 75% of tweets, gives you a hint)
Twitter Corp has little motivation to drain the bot swamp.
Fake automated accounts pump up apparent user base.
Automated bot-spew pumps up the tweet-flow statistic (making twitter seem more popular and engaging).
Rarely does a day go by when I don’t have at least one (sometimes numerous) bots auto-follow my account.
Twitter is slowly becoming a cesspool of marketing spam.

    1. Spot on.

And What does ‘as many as’… in the infographic actually mean? I highly doubt ‘as many as’ 52% of all Twitter accounts send a tweet every day (or even that every day, ‘as many as’ 52% of all Twitter accounts tweet).

Given that Facebook has approaching 800 million monthly active users, with over 4 billion posts (activities) made by them every day, that’s an average of 5 posts/activities per day per active user. Twitter apparently gets 1 billion tweets per week, so that’s just 142 million tweets a day, so if each account was tweeting 5 times a day (you would expect it to be higher on Twitter than Facebook, given the primitive nature of a tweet), that means there are less than 30 million active Twitter users.

And 88% of all people have heard of Twitter? In the world? No, way.
