I admit it is a round about way of inferring things, but DSL chip maker Metalink was talking up its technology and the interest it is getting from Baby Bells. Which means, after nearly a year when VDSL2 technology became all the rage in Asia and Europe, it might actually arrive on our shores, and perhaps with it bring higher speeds over copper. VDSL-1 has been used in the US, but only by small independent phone companies. At a distance of less than 1000 feed, VDSL2 can push data over copper at speeds of around 100 megabits per second.
