- Boingo Wireless and Vonage announced a joint wireless VoIP service that will combine Boingo’s 11,000 location Wi-Fi network with Vonage’s soft phone VoIP service. True reason behind the deal: Peter Barris, managing general partner of New Enterprise Associates and a board member for both Boingo and Vonage.
- OnRamp Access announced it will provide VoIP to small business users in the major Texas metropolitan areas. VoIP provides superior phone quality and eliminates US long-distance fees and intraoffice access charges. OnRamp will use the StarPoint IP service from VoIP network operator PointOne.
- Pactolus, has introduced a pre paid billing option so that service providers can give consumers greater choice and flexibility. Consumers will be able to pay only for what they use; they’ll be able to stretch a prepaid allocation over several months if that is what makes sense for them.
- Nuvio Corporation, is making a major push into the Utah market through four new partnerships with locally-based broadband and wireless providers – Curean Communications, Readytek Broadband, Trilobyte and Catapulsion Broadband. This is part of Kansas City, MO-based Nuvio’s white label wholesale package.
- Net2Phone announced VoiceLine XJ100 Wi-Fi Handset. “By removing the tether from wireline services, we have extended the availability of VoIP to customers who have access to wireless broadband,” said Stephen Greenberg, Chief Executive Officer of Net2Phone. “By enabling service providers with a Wi-Fi VoIP solution that builds upon our existing broadband telephony solutions, we have created one more method to enhance their service offering to their customers.”
