* VOIP in Canada: New York Times has a hallelujah moment and says that VOIP is alive and well in Canada and threatening incumbents.
* AT&T’s Dorman on VoIP in Boston Globe.: Don’t they own part of the struggling COMETA? Now imagine an all IP based infrastructure, for Voice, Data and Wireless. One carrier. One bill. AT&T is going to kick VoIP off with what is called “an Olympic Strategy” one which will have them using lots of PR and TV advertising, and then rapidly following it with numerous event based marketing.
* Powell Warns Telcos on VoIP: Michael Powell yesterday told the incumbent carriers, watch out. “If you’re a big incumbent and you’ve sort of enjoyed a competitive advantage . . . you, in my opinion, ought to be terrified. I think it’s going to be the very, very best and biggest breakthrough in our ambitions and dreams about competition ever.”
* FCC looking at wireless broadband: The FCC has created a Wireless Broadband Task Force that is seeking comment (by June 3) on what policies could facilitate further growth of wireless ISPs.

The telecom industry is just to slow to stop agile start-ups from taking market share in the VoIP space.
